FIELD: petroleum processing and catalysts. SUBSTANCE: sulfur sensitive reforming catalyst is converted into less sulfur sensitive one owing to utilization of catalytic system including physical mixture of such catalyst with sulfur-absorption agent capable of capturing small amounts of sulfur from hydrocarbon raw material. Advantageously, mixture includes sulfur sensitive reforming catalyst protected against sulfur deactivation by manganese oxide absorbent. Catalyst of invention exhibits marked advantages in catalytic reforming process as compared to those processes involving potassium form of L-zeolite component. EFFECT: enhanced formation of aromatic hydrocarbons and prolonged lifetime of catalyst. 4 cl, 2 tbl
