FIELD: production of refractory and abrasive materials. SUBSTANCE: coal articles and heat insulation silicium-containing mixture are fed into graphitization furnace. Said mixture comprises coke or anthracite, quartz sand having high alumina content, woody dust and sodium chloride. Quantities of sand and NaCl are so that they do not degrade heat insulating properties of mentioned above mixture. Heat treatment is carried out at 2000 C. Waste mixture is affected by gravitation separation. Silicium carbide comprises, mas. %: C, 99.33-99.43; $$$, 0.02-0.09; $$$, 0.05-0.09; $$$, 0.26-0.39.
