METHOD OF GAS PRESSURE CHECKING IN FUEL ELEMENT OF NUCLEAR REACTOR Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: gas pressure is checked by measuring of heating temperature of jacket 2 in process of natural convection of fuel element filling gas caused by heating the section of fuel element jacket. Peculiar feature of proposed method is simultaneous measurement of heating temperature increment of jacket 2 corresponding to convective component of heat transfer which is gas pressure function and of heating temperature of jacket 2 reducing the error of gas pressure measurement. Both measurements are performed by one and the same temperature sensors 5, 6. Stable check results are obtained in case of change in jacket thickness or in density of turns of spring-actuated lock which fills compensation volume of fuel element.
