FIELD: petrochemical synthesis, more particularly preparation of trans-5,6-dialkyl (aryl, alkenyl)-1,9-decadienes. SUBSTANCE: trans-5,6-dialkyl (aryl, alkenyl)-1,9-decadienes are prepared by reacting 1-hepten, 1-hexen, 4-vinyl cyclohexene -1-en, or alkylbenzene with ethyl aluminium chloride and metallic magnesium at 20-22: 10-12:10 molar ratio in the presence of zirconium tetrachloride catalyst in amount of 3-6 mole % with respect to metallic magnesium in argon atmosphere at room temperature and normal pressure in tetrahydrofuran, while stirring for 8 h, and subsequently adding butyl lithium in amount equimolar with respect to EtAlCl₂ at temperature from minus 5 C to 0 C, copper monochloride in amount of 2-4 mole % with respect to metallic magnesium allyl chloride in 4-fold excess amount with respect to EtAlCl₂, and stirring is continued at room temperature for 4-6 h.
