FIELD: meteorology, atmospheric optics for distant determination of horizontal and tilt visibility, height of clouds and microphysical structure of atmospheric formations. SUBSTANCE: device determining parameters of visibility and microstructure of atmospheric formations has source of linearly polarized radiation, optical receiver of scattered radiation, photoreceiving channels for reception of polarization components on two working wave lengths, unit processing and recording received signals, system of synchronization of operation of device elements. Device is also equipped with calibration-norming channel intended for correction of instability of parameters of receiving-transmitting path of device and for calibration of sensitivity of receiving channels under mode of measurement of brightness of surrounding background. In addition device is provided with photochannel for reception of radiation on multiple ( second ) wave length of radiator by means of dichroic unit and with photochannel for reception of halo part of component of radiation repeated many times with the aid of unit for separate reception of this component.
