FIELD: radio engineering, in particular, satellite lines operating in noise conditions. SUBSTANCE: device has sampler 1, computer 3, threshold unit 2, delay unit 2, hypothesis making unit 5, adaptation unit 6, threshold generation unit 7 and one information input, four parameter inputs and four outputs according to number of possible hypotheses. Signal and/or noise is detected in a priori ignorance conditions by means of generation of sufficient statistical data from observed stochastic process which is received by information input of signal detector. These data are used for testing statistical hypotheses which form complete group of four events one of which is ever present in current moment. EFFECT: signal-noise detection and analysis of signal-noise conditions in a priori ignorance. 5 cl, 6 dwg
