FIELD: electroplating. SUBSTANCE: coatings on unipolar-conductance metals are applied by way of electrolysis in which electrodes generate alternate asymmetric voltage with continuous passage of negative- and positive-polarity current pulses. As electrolyte, aqueous alkali solution or aqueous solution of alkali-alkali metal silicate mixture is utilized. In this case, electrolysis provides conversion of sparkle discharges appearing on the surface of unipolar-conductance metal into microarc and then into arc discharges assisting formation of coating in the form of composite based on solid phases of oxide ceramics. EFFECT: facilitated high-quality coating formation. 6 cl, 2 dwg
