FIELD: cleaning and utilization of various gaseous discharges resulting from industrial activities, such as power engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical and other industries. SUBSTANCE: it is recommended to use as catalytically active mass, composition containing the following components, wt.-%: slime, 45-55; clay, 31-35; iron (II) sulfate heptahydrate, 9-12; 25-% ammoniacal water, 4-6; polyethylene glycol, 1-2. Resistance of catalytic elements to breaking stress when subjected to longitudinally directed compression is increased by 45-70% and when subjected to transverse compression, by 20-25%. EFFECT: increased resistance of catalytic element to breaking stress. 1 tbl
