SUBSTANCE: modular machine tool for drilling openings in cover plates of braking shoes includes table, column carrying vertical spindles whose axes are normal relative to axis of unit for orienting and fastening cover plate. Machine tool has separate drive mechanisms for rotating and axially moving spindle and unit for orienting and fastening cover plates. Pneumatic cylinders of drive unit are arranged inside U-shaped carriage between guides. Piston of pneumatic cylinder may be braked at end of its stroke by means of braking sleeves mounted on rod and throttles arranged in ducts joining cavity of piston with cavity of sleeves. ducts are formed in front and back covers of pneumatic cylinder.
