FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: to reduce side wear of rails and wheel flanges clearance between rails and wheels is created by increasing guaranteed clearance by value of $$$ where $$$ are tolerable difference in diameters $$$ of right and left wheels, and n is taper of wheel roll surface and basing on the above data, minimum width $$$ of rail gauge is determined. Wheels with greater diameter of wheel tread, within tolerable difference, are installed at one side of vehicle to provide their rolling along outer rail on curvilinear section of track.
