FIELD: rolled stock production, namely manufacture of slabs of carbonaceous killed, semikilled and rimming steels. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of melting and casting steel to ingot molds; before rolling heating ingot from 400-965 C up to 1240-1310 C for 4.5-11.67 hours; subsequently rolling it by several stages in straight and edging passes; in edging passes rolling ingots with total reduction of side of ingot equal to 31-57% with individual reduction values at first stage consisting 9-20% of total reduction and at subsequent stages - 21-28% of said total reduction.
