FIELD: metallurgy, manufacture of rolled products, namely rolling ingots in break-down, billet and bar rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: method comprise steps of deforming ingot on flat roll barrel, tilting it and further rolling in box-shaped roll grooved passes; normalizing value of relation of width of ingot cross section to its height during deforming ingot on flat roll barrel and reducing ingot in box grooved passes with use of mathematical expressions taking into account current values of width and height of ingot cross section at deforming on flat barrel, absolute reduction value of ingot in one pass and maximally admissible reduction value of ingot at deforming on flat roll barrel, absolute reduction value of ingot in one pass and maximally admissible reduction value of ingot at rolling in box grooved passes, empiric coefficients for different conditions of rolling process.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of rolled pieces due to lowered surface flaw occurring, less loss of yield.
