FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of sealed nickel-cadmium cells. SUBSTANCE: alkaline cell has jar, cover with plug and binding posts, positive oxide-nickel plates, twin negative cadmium plates with excess charging capacitance compared to that of oxide-nickel electrodes, separator, and electrolyte, as well as additional insulated chamber communicating through sealed joint with cell electrolyte, for example, by means of tube; twin cadmium electrodes are separated by clearance. Insulated chamber may be placed inside or outside the cell and may be made of flexible material in the form of folding bellows or in the form of enclosed vessel with solid walls and is provided with tube one of whose ends is placed at chamber bottom.
