FIELD: manufacturing of heavy-duty chemical current sources. SUBSTANCE: device has unit of opposite polarity electrodes which are split by separator, and electrolyte, which contains the following weight percentage of constituents: 10-30% of caustic potassium, 5- 15% of caustic lithium, the rest is water. When assembled electrode unit is mounted into housing, method involves filling it with solution of caustic lithium in concentration of 50-110 g/l, filling in vacuum, charging, flushing solution of caustic lithium, filling water solution of caustic potassium in concentration of 300-350 g/l with caustic lithium additive of 15-35 g/l, and running charge-discharge cycles. EFFECT: decreased power losses during sealing, increased specific electrical characteristics. 2 tbl
