FIELD: agriculture and milk industry. SUBSTANCE: milk samples are separated during milking from milk flow in proportion to full flow and have volume below 50 ml at total expected amount of milk of up to 30 kg and expected maximum flow rate of up to 12 kg/min. Method involves selecting one analytical milk sample of preliminarily set maximum volume of 50 ml on the base of total amount of milk expected from the given cow by means of cyclic mode controlled valve, with each cycle including time when valve is in open position and time when valve is in closed position; measuring cycle time and time when valve is in closed position. Apparatus has milk flow rate meter, processor unit and sampler with valve. Valve has electrically controlled magnetic coil causing displacement of locking member to first position to close opening for preventing discharge of withdrawn milk flow adapted for sampling, and to second position allowing discharge of milk flow through opening.
