FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling mechanisms designed for automatic gripping and delivering of rail cars of different length and wheelbase over entire perimeter of area of car repair plant and placing them in repair positions. SUBSTANCE: set has load bearing beams on which vertical beams 9 are installed by means of carriages. Support carriages 4 and 7 installed on beams 9 are coupled with load gripping members 3. Electric hoists 13 are mounted on load bearing beams. Electric hoists provide displacement of load gripping members 3 through system of cables and sheaves of pulley blocks. Sliders 2 installed on members 3 provide bringing of load gripping members in moved apart position under action of their own weight. Lower ends of vertical beams are cut at angle corresponding to angle of tilting of sliders. Set makes it possible to change distance between load gripping members.
