FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for water discharge from low-head water reservoirs of small storage capacity. Spillway incorporates vertical tubular head-piece located in head water part of hydraulic engineering structure. Lower part of vertical tubular head-piece is connected by discharge tube with tailwater part of hydraulic structure. Located above head-piece is removable hood which is made in the form of disk with edges which are bent downwards. Hood is provided with stream guiding cone located on central rod which is fastened to disk. Stream guiding cone is made in the form of vertical strips which are inter-crossing on central rod. Strips are fastened by lower disk located perpendicularly to central rod. Stream guiding cone ensures uniform distribution of stream over cross-section of tubular head-piece and prevents breakthrough of air into head-piece due to artificially created roll. At raising level of head water, disk with downward bent edges prevents air breakthrough into head-piece where vacuum is created which ensures functioning of spillway in stable mode of pressure head operation.
