FIELD: measurement of flow rate of liquids in open and closed streams with variable level. SUBSTANCE: time of propagation of ultrasonic pulses at angle with direction of flow down stream and against stream is found by which average velocity of stream is calculated. Height of liquid level is determined by passing ultrasonic pulses through solid medium present in stream in direction towards surface of liquid. Flowmeter for realization of given method has ultrasonic measurement module in the form of flume 1 which sides carry receiving- transmitting pickups of device measuring velocity of stream. Device measuring height of liquid level made in the form of bar of solid material where receiving-transmitting pickup 6 is installed is attached to base of flume. End of bar is manufactured in the form of reflector of ultrasonic pulses. Flowmeter is fitted with clamping fixture for anchoring inside pipe-line. Instrument controlling formation of ultrasonic pulses, computation and display of information on flow rate is used to calculate flow rate.
