SUBSTANCE: present invention describes catalysts on substrate applied onto inorganic carriers of formula I for preparation of ethylene by conversion of methane or purified natural gas, and preparation thereof, and method of preparing ethylene by direct conversion of methane or purified natural gas using said catalysts Ma′Pc/S of formula I wherein M is compound selected from RuCl2(PPh3)3, and is inorganic carrier selected from α-Al2O3, γ-Al2O3, SiO2, SiO2-Al2O3,, Y is zeolite, MgO and TiO2,, P is phosphorus compound as promoter selected from PPh3, P(OCH3)3, P(OC2H5)3, P(O)(OC2H5)3,, and a′ denotes weight percentage of metal in catalyst varying from 0.25 to 5 wt % and C denotes weight percentage of promoter in catalyst varying from 1.0 to 20.0 wt %.
