FIELD: photocatolytic processes and photocatalysts.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method for preparation of CdS photocatalytic system described by formula m(a)/Cd]M(b)]S (I) used in photolysis of water, which comprises following steps: dissolving Cd- and M-containing compounds in water in such amounts that molar percentage of M lies within a range of 0.001 to 20.00; adding H2S or Na2S to resulting solution as Cd]M]S precipitating reagent; rinsing precipitate with water and drying it in vacuum for 1.5-3.0 h under nitrogen atmosphere in thermostat heated to 105-150оС; alloying dried precipitate with liquid m-containing compound in such an amount that weight percentage of m lies within a range of 0.10 to 5.00. In formula I, m represents alloying metallic electron-accepting element selected from Ni, Pd, Fe, Ru, Co, and oxidized compound of any of these metals; a represents weight percentage of m within the range 0.10-5.00; M represents promoter selected from V, Cr, Al, P, As, Sb, and P; and a is molar percentage M/(M+Cd) lying between 0.001 and 20.00. According to another aspect, invention provides hydrogen generation method wherein aqueous suspension of photocatalyst is exposed to specially filtered visible light emission in presence of 0.05-1,00 mole Na2S (as electron donor) and 0.05-1.00 mole Na2SO4 (as reducing agent).
EFFECT: optimized photocatalyst preparation procedure and enhanced hydrogen generation efficiency.
