FIELD: welding. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to welding equipment and can be used for monitoring, adaptive control, studies, teaching and certification in various types of fusion welding and in related technologies. Key task of given process and gear monitoring quality of fusion welding is expansion of number of diagnosed states of thermal image characterizing quality by thermal track ahead of moving fusion. Process is realized due to introduction of logic, differential- integral, threshold processing with proper orientation of position-sensitive pyroelectric converter and protective screen in addition to optical formation, conversion of infrared signal of thermal track to electric signal, to threshold formation of signals of deviation from joint and depth of penetration. Gear for implementation of process is composed of converter of infrared radiation, operational and actuating units connected in series, switch, unit modeling welding, unit of test signal and registering testing-experting unit with proper couplings inside gear, to control system and object.
