FIELD: manufacture of finned pipes by attachment of fins made from strips by method of high-frequency welding. SUBSTANCE: invention provides for expanded capabilities of automatic adjustment and self-diagnostics, for compensation amplitude tracking with control over reflector optical and electron components of sensitivity, for spectral filtration test of structure of surface of parts, for spatial-amplitude, gradient-extreme evaluation of heating, upsetting, condition of surface, vibration, rate and level of penetration, geometrical defects correspondingly of parts, welded joints and welds, for evaluation of state of functioning welding equipment, for detection of inadmissible defects of lack of continuity, overheating, poor penetration, for correlation thermogram test of hardness. Spatial-amplitude (extrema, gradients), spatial-geometric (central regions, areas, volumes, distances, connectivity, branching) and static (expectation, dispersion, mean-square deviation or center, area, mean radius of assemblage of conventional-point objects) information data on detection and identification of characteristics of forming of welding process and of functioning of equipment providing for welding. EFFECT: improved process of diagnostics of contact finning which realizes more complete set of functions of test and diagnostics under various conditions of usage with high requirements for sensitivity and reliability. 7 dwg, 1 tbl
