FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy, electrolytic production of aluminium. SUBSTANCE: cathode device of aluminium electrolyzer includes cathode housing with windows for passage of cathode rods, bottom blocks with cathode rods, lining made from self-hardening heat-resistant material located between bottom blocks and walls of cathode housing, seal of leads-out of cathode rods manufactured around cathode rods in the form of packing stuffing. Lining placed between bottom blocks and walls of cathode housing is sectional, interlayer of compressible material is laid between its sections. Layer of material providing for sliding of cathode rods and lining with reference to each other and for compensation of their thermal expansion is located in points of fitting of lining to cathode rods. EFFECT: prolonged service life of electrolyzer, increased quality of produced aluminium. 2 cl, 4 dwg
