FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: high-pile fabric has pile joined to ground, such as knitted back. Pile has 10-100% of natural wool. Method involves forming card sliver from filaments; knitting fabric ground to obtain knitted back and knitting card sliver filament bundles into fabric; fixing card sliver filament bundles in ground loops; performing widening and fixing of linear sizes with following final working of knit pile fabric. Card sliver is formed from filaments containing 10-100% of natural wool, which is preliminarily treated with carbonizing solution. Pile filament bundles are fixed in ground loops during widening process due to natural twisting and resiliency of natural wool filaments. EFFECT: increased efficiency and provision for producing knit pipe fabric with improved heat-shielding, aesthetic and ergonomic properties, as well as with good resistance to mechanical cleaning. 3 cl
