SUBSTANCE: method involves switching of thyristor gates of different modes in several stages in each of which load current circuit breaking and over- voltage at thyristor gates are prevented and moments of stage selection depend on phase angles at load which are equal to time zones of natural commutation of thyristor gates which are opened at these stages.
