FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: mercury compounds are removed by sorption on modified fibrous sorbent compacted to density 0.08-0.16 kg/l at pH 4-6 and linear filtration rate 250-400 cm/h. Atomic absorptive analysis revealed 0.00001 mg/l of mercury in treated water. EFFECT: enhanced mercury removal efficiency. 1 tbl
