FIELD: mechanical engineering; air cleaners with noise damping members. SUBSTANCE: air cleaner has chamber 1 formed by housing 2, bottom 23 and cover 4 provided with intake port 5 and outlet port 6. Filtering member 7 and perforated sound energy dissipator are installed in chamber. Sound energy dissipator is located between ports 5 and 6. Dissipator is made in form of two perforated partitions 8 and 9 with clearance "a" between partitions whose value is within the range whose limits are found from expression a=0,2d1...0,4(d1+d2), where d1 is diameter of larger hole in partition, and d2 is diameter of smaller hole in partition. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities, unified and simplified layout of air cleaner in engine compartment, increased noise damping characteristics of air cleaner. 3 cl, 6 dwg
