FIELD: mechanical engineering; multicylinder diesel engines. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at designing compact intake device of engine featuring improved acoustic efficiency. Intake device of internal combustion engine has air cleaner and receiver with separate intake branch pipes connected with cylinder head and communicating with separate cylinders through intake valves. Air cleaner housing has intake port air intake branch pipe and it is made in form of round cylinder limited by bottom and cover. Spaces of receiver and air cleaner are placed in communication by means of air duct. Branched air duct has at least two intake and two outlet branch pipes united by common pipeline. Intake branch pipes are secured on side wall of receiver and on bottom of air cleaner. Axes of intake port of air intake branch pipe and axes of free cuts of intake branch pipes are located in relatively perpendicular planes passing through axis of cylindrical housing. Ratio of distances from centers of free cuts of intake branch pipes to axis of cylindrical housing and ratio of their cross-section areas correspond to following equation a1/a2/Ф2/Ф1, where a1, a2 is distance from centers of cuts to axis of cylindrical housing, and Ф1,Ф2 are areas of cross-sections of cuts. Relationship between distances from centers of free cuts of outlet branch pipes to normal plane of receiver cross-section through its center of gravity and areas of their cross-section can be made to correspond to following equation б1/б2= S2/S1 where б1,/б2 - is distance from centers of cuts to said plane, and S1, S2 are areas of cross-sections of cuts. So, summary acoustic work done by pulsations of gas in branched air duct pipes equals zero which precludes excitation of natural oscillations of receiver and air cleaner.
