FIELD: amplifier engineering; purely optical devices for data reception and processing. SUBSTANCE: optical amplifier is provided with group of bistable optical members, splitter with coupled-cavity optical waveguides, and output splitter; amplifier input functions as input of first bistable member; inverted output of each bistable member is connected to input of next bistable member connected in series with the former; direct outputs of all bistable members are connected to inputs of respective splitters forming, together with branches of splitter whose input is connected to output of DC radiation source, optically coupled waveguide pairs, and their outputs are interconnected to form output splitter whose output functions as device output. EFFECT: provision for amplifying both coherent and incoherent optical signals at high speed. 1 dwg
