FIELD: delivery of messages from central terminal to communication receiver in communication system, such as electronic mail system. SUBSTANCE: central terminal transmits messages to communication receiver, and communication receiver receives transmitted messages over the first communication line. Communication receiver coordinates the messages, which it could not receive over the first communication line, with the central terminal over the second communication line. The procedure of coordination between the communication receiver and central terminal uses message descriptors transmitted together with messages for indication of messages that are subject to coordination. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of transmitted messages, long messages inclusive, in communication systems which use paging systems for message delivery. 13 cl, 16 dwg
