FIELD: plastic metal working, namely, rolling variable-profile articles such as sheets for leaf springs with small number of leaves. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of heating blank, fixing it against rotation at rolling and rolling it between non-driven rolls in directions from mean portion of blank towards its end portions; placing blank onto rolls at restricting its lateral surfaces; rolling blank at contact of lower surface of blank with rolls and simultaneously moving roll axes towards blank in predetermined portions along blank. Apparatus for performing the method includes housing with upper and lower wings, carriages with non-driven rolls, mechanism for fixing blank against shifting, platform with guides for placing carriages. Supporting member is mounted on one of wing. Guides are mounted on another wing. Guides are shaped for vertically moving carriages and roll axles simultaneously with lengthwise motion of carriage at rolling. EFFECT: lowered cost of apparatus due to its simplified structure, reduced size and increased strength, enhanced labor conditions and quality of products. 4 cl, 10 dwg
