FIELD: machine tools for item by item peeling of timber. SUBSTANCE: peeling assembly has drum with sand poured between its internal and external walls to reduce noise caused by impacts of working member on drum. Ears to which working members are coupled through Hooke's joint are fixed on peripheral surface of drum. Every working member is based on flexible element, for example, rope provided with several beaters in operating zone. Main beater is secured at flexible element end, and the remaining beaters are separated from one another with bushes for protection of flexible element against wear. External surfaces of beaters are fused with hard material. They have rough surface to promote adhesion with bark. It results in more reliable scraping off back with wood remaining intact.
