FIELD: protective coatings. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to coating varistors (double-saturation diodes) and aims at uniformly spreading dross on their cylindrical surfaces, preventing dross to get on their end surfaces, and simplifying structure of device. Method of invention consists in wet surfacing including spraying by descending jet through throttle-controlled nozzle and is distinguished by that, when dross is being sprayed onto surface, it is being shaken by way of pulse rotation of object, while applied dross is simultaneously being leveled across the cylindrical surface of object by a freely gliding shovel. Relevant device contains power drive, object fixation assembly, liquid dross-supply unit, dross leveling means in the form of shovel mounted to fulfill oscillatory motion (i) round the axis oriented at an angle corresponding to the shovel attack angle relative to the tangent of object side surface at the point where shovel touches liquid dross layer and (ii) round the axis parallel to object rotation axis, shovel attack angle being equal to 10-20 deg. and power drive being constructed as stepping motor.
