FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: installation contains crude oil-heating unit and separation column with sump for residual mazut. Sump is executed in the form of outside circular shell round active zone of nuclear-power reactor. The shell, together with outside periphery of active zone, form reactor space to affect residual mazut with heat and ionizing radiation of active zone to perform radiation thermal cracking of residual mazut. Product is then separated into fractions in temperature fields of separation column. Outside circular shell of active zone may be made in the form of elliptic paraboloid. Crude oil-heating unit utilizes heat energy from nuclear installation. EFFECT: extended industrial use of mazut and other heavy oil fractions to produce motor fuels, reduced process pressure to atmosphere value, and reduced power consumption. 3 cl, 1 dwg
