FIELD: waste disposal. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns reusing lube oil waste or sludges or other wastes containing heavy hydrocarbons. Waste is loaded into reactor into which oxygen-containing gas is also fed to burn waste giving rise to gaseous combustion products and solid residue, the latter being discharged out of the reactor. According to invention, oxygen-containing gas is fed continuously in amount insufficient to completely burn waste; it is also fed in such a way as to pass through solid residue bed, while gaseous combustion products are passed through fresh waste bed to produce hydrocarbon- containing gas product. Invention may be applied in environmentally safe technologies for reusing lube oil waste in metallurgy and mechanical engineering, for removing spilt crude oil polluted by mineral particles, processing other petroleum sludges, e.g. oil storage tank sludges, bitumen sands. External power sources are unnecessary. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency and reduced power consumption. 17 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
