FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method is meant for determination of absolute values of mechanical stresses in pipe-line working under pressure by measurement of changes of magnetic properties of materials depending on load. Parameters of magnetic noises are recorded on test specimen. Section with zero values of mechanical stresses along longitudinal axis of article is chosen as test specimen. Converting proportionality factor is found across this section. Absolute value of mechanical stress is determined by difference of values of parameter of magnetic noise at point of test and its zero value multiplied by converting proportionality factor.
