FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying tobacco to cylinder moved by platform periodically rotatable through predetermined angle, with platform being successively moved through four stations; compacting tobacco at second station; moving portion of tobacco at third station into autoclave and cooling by directing gaseous carbon dioxide through tobacco portion; closing carbon dioxide outlet and delivering gas to create pressure and provide impregnation effect. The initial pressure is such that regulated amount of carbon dioxide is condensed on tobacco. Method further involves relieving pressure to provide cooling of impregnated tobacco due to expansion of gas and evaporation of liquid carbon dioxide; discharging tobacco at fourth station and providing swelling by heating.
