FIELD: machine-tool manufacture. SUBSTANCE: geometrical accuracy and dimensional adjustment of high-accuracy metal-cutting machine tool when machining the blank installed between centers is performed by automatic compensation of thermal shift of machine-tool spindle as a result of simultaneous and adequate displacement of spindle front end neck and action upon actuating mechanisms. As a result, radial position of tool and relative position of machine-tool base members relative to base central holes of blank and tool are changed. Effect on actuating mechanisms is rendered by reversing piezoelectric micromotors. Base central holes of blank are made toroidal or spherical with noncircularity of 3-5 mcm and roughness Ra = 0.20 mcm. Signal of value of spindle neck displacement is supplied simultaneously to visual digital indicator. In process of cutting, at maximum speed of system action, given method provides for high accuracy and preservation of dimensional adjustment in case of thermal radial shift of spindle with due regard for value and sign of shift.
