FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: working of worm wheel 1 of modified gearing is performed by worm-type tool 2 positioned at an angle νсуп to middle plane 3 of worm wheel 1. Middle sections of active surface of teeth 4 of wheel 1 with right-hand (left-hand) direction of line of tooth 4 is carried out by tool 2 inclined counter-clockwise (clockwise) through an angle νсуп to be determined from dependence: νcуп= ν/2-ν′-(λu1-λu2), where ν is angular extension of hollow 5 (oil groove aa'd'd zone of middle section boundary friction on active surface of tooth 1); ν′ is angle between middle plane 3 of wheel 1 and output edge dd' of hollow 5; λu1 is elevation angle of dividing helical line of tool by which active surfaces of teeth 4 of wheel 1 are worked; λu2 is elevation angle of dividing helical line of tool 2 which is used to cut out hollows.
