FIELD: electroplating. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to stabilizing sludges formed when removing heavy metals from electroplating waste water and may be applied in mechanical engineering and radio electronics. Sludge is ferritized by mixing it with water-soluble ferrous salt and then with alkali followed by heating mixture to 70-80 C. Suspension pH value is maintained at the level 9-10, temperature is raised with rate 3-4 C/min, and weight ratio of ferrous ion to solid phase of suspension is 0.06-0.08.
