SUBSTANCE: method includes conversion of natural gas in reformer and concurrently (partially) on freshly reduced sponge iron in shaft furnace with supply of natural gas to intermediate zone and zone of furnace cooling in terms of 880-1190 cu.m/h for each percent of CaO introduced into charge. In this case, total consumption of natural gas for conversion in furnace does not exceed 3200-3800 cu.m/h. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
