FIELD: metallurgical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the metallurgical industry and can be used for processing iron ore raw materials, in particular for the production of iron by direct reduction using plasma technologies. Iron is produced in a shaft furnace during the movement of iron ore raw materials containing iron oxides and a counter-circulating reducing gas consisting of hydrogen and carbon monoxide and obtained by heating and converting hydrocarbons. The spent recovery gas is removed from the recovery zone, the recovered iron is discharged from the shaft furnace and then cooled. The invention provides for the intensification of the process of direct reduction of iron in a shaft furnace due to gas flows and the generation of a high-temperature flow reducing gas, which is produced using gas plasma.
EFFECT: as a result, carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere are reduced and the specific energy costs for the direct reduction of iron are reduced.
