FIELD: communication, in particular, data processing. SUBSTANCE: communication system with serial communication channels has first and second commutators, each of which is connected to multiple devices which provides serial communication channel for connection between arbitrary devices which are connected to this commutator. Each commutator also has inter-commutator connection which provides serial communication channel between any device which is connected to first commutator and any device which is connected to second commutator. In addition device has arbitration bus, bus conflict arbiter, and multiple ports. EFFECT: direct connection between two devices in data processing system by means of serial channel. 14 cl, 13 dwg
