FIELD: materials handling facilities; grouping of articles on incoming conveyor to installation by releasing them in required number by means of brake. SUBSTANCE: previously set number of articles, preferably packages, pass by one or more holders or pushers installed to provide displacement at one side across relative to transportation arrangement of output conveyor from installation and at other side, in synchronism with this transportation arrangement. As pushers move one after the other, the first pusher provides grouping first after which second pusher provides additional grouping. This done, both pushers remain in their initial positions and articles on output conveyor become grouped in three rows. EFFECT: provision of grouping of articles- packages without stopping of incoming conveyor with packages, possibility of using installation for different types of distributing machines such as shrinkable film wrappers, machines for packing articles on pallets. 5 cl, 4 dwg
