FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to coal industry and can be used for obtaining methane with its further industrial utilization, and method is also used for degassing of coal seams being mined. According to method of degassing coal seams, bore-hole is drilled. Then performed is spaced hydraulic fracturing oriented in direction from bottom-hole to head of bore-hole. Now working fluid is removed and gas is withdrawn. Bore-holes are drilled through mass to be degassed. Strata of rock matter incorporating coal seams are tested for tensile strength. Fissures of hydraulic fracturing must coincide in rock matter of floor and roof of each coal seam. Locations of hydraulic fracturing fissures are selected with taking account of tensile strength of rock of stratum located aside. Spacings of hydraulic fracture can be increased in direction away from coal seam. Application of aforesaid method enhances safety in extracting coal from seam. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 cl, 1 dwg
