FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engine with axial power unit. SUBSTANCE: axial power unit of engine with two-row parallel arrangement of paired cylinders has one crankshaft with rigid connection of each pair of rods with pistons on one slider. Axis of cranks is displaced relative to axis of cylinder towards axis of paired cylinder through (0.48-0.52) A where A is cylinder-to-cylinder distance. To decrease cross size of engine, connecting shaft is arranged at side wall of housing in zone directly adjoining the slider guides, and gravity center of balancer is displaced from axis of rod journal through (0.03-0.15) L where L is length of balancer. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced overall dimensions, simplified design. 2 cl, 2 dwg
