FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: this can be used for protection of hydraulic engineering structures from substantial raising of water level in rivers at thawing of ice. According to method, placed under ice cover is flexible shell which is then filled with gas under pressure and exerts pressure on water medium which is displaced through preliminarily made hole in ice cover onto upper surface of ice cover. Then, pressure is quickly released and ice cover becomes hanging and is subjected to pressure of earlier displaced water medium found atop ice cover. Also possible is to create alternating load. Application of method is very simple, cheap and quickly realized. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
