FIELD: measurement technology, monitoring of thunderstorm activities. SUBSTANCE: delay of ionospheric reflection relative to signal of ground wave is found by legitimate signal received by known method. , reference frequency of signal is determined, profile of electron concentration of ionosphere is reconstructed with the aid of signals of fixed frequency of pulse- position radio stations with known coordinates. Range value is found by obtained profile of electron concentration, reference frequency of signal and delay time of ionospheric reflection with use of dependence of delay time of ionospheric reflection on range to electromagnetic radiation source.
