FIELD: detection and ranging. SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic lightning-discharge signal (atmospheric noise) is received by vertical rod antenna, amplified, filtered off in broad frequency band, delayed in time, processed concurrently in n channels (range scale divisions), each of which is tuned to fixed range to lightning discharge source, by determining consistence of range in each scale division with recorded atmospheric noise of this range scale division; values obtained in the process are compared with each other for all range scale divisions; range division with maximum value is determined and considered as range to lightning discharge source. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 5 dwg
