FIELD: organic chemistry and technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves dissolving camphor in acetic anhydride at mass ratio of components = (1:1)- (1:2.5), its sulfonation, separation of crystals from mother liquor, washing out a product followed by drying and additional recrystallization of product from acetic acid. Camphor is dissolved in a mixture of acetic anhydride and sulfonation mother liquor at mass ratio of components = (1:1:0.1)-(1:2:4). The use of d,l-camphor ensures to decrease cost production of sulfocamphoric acid by 5-10-fold, increase the yield of ready product by 1.5-fold, decrease consumption coefficients by 9-42%. Synthesized compound is used in chemical-pharmaceutical industry for production of drugs (sulfocaine, semisynthetic penicillins, cephalosifins and others) that show coronary-dilating, antibacterial and analgetic activity. EFFECT: increased yield, decreased cost, broadened assortment, improved quality of the end product, improved ecology.
